Working Holiday at Lake Tahoe

In 2005, we managed to travel to the United States of America. Since the flights were expensive to the California destination in question, we had to think ahead. Try to get some work ahead of time to make sure that the ocean crossing investment returns. Finally, we got a great job at South Lake Tahoe, where we spent a wonderful three months. It was beneficial that we had our own wheels from home. Local roads were excellent and we didn't have to buy a car. In addition, the airline Lufthansa did not charge any charge at all for their transportation, so we saved a lot.

We lived in so-called "cabins", which are wooden cabins on the edge of a forest built of local pine trees of enormous size. They lived in them perfectly, but we even had to sleep boys separately. But this was often avoided.

With us, Czechs also got a job here for the summer, as did Irish and then Americans.

We worked in three souvenir shops as a cashier, so the work was running out during the day. In the morning, the checkout was checked, goods picked up and cleaned. Sometimes it was necessary to re-order something, sometimes to discard goods that were no longer drawn to customers. In addition, we had the opportunity to talk to our customers about their homeland and when we heard the word Europe, sometimes we even missed. A couple of times it happened to me that the Spanish-speaking tourists came to the shop, so I could also practice Spanish vocabulary.

The town was founded relatively recently, when some adventurer wandered over the Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean from the east. He discovered a clear lake with drinking water and shoals of fish, so the first settlement was founded here. The town was quiet, but there was a cinema and a disco. These were mostly in local casinos that were already on the Nevada side. There were no taxes paid for. We liked to go there because we could order a drink after the dollar. And that there were…

We went on trips to the surroundings, but I liked it the same way when we once rounded the lake. This trip took an entire 3 days because the lake is huge. Just across the road it is 50 kilometers long, and so the tachometer has loaded a distance of 105 kilometers.
